Prague Classic 2020 is cancelled

13. 10. 2020

Third edition WCT Event is cancelled due to COVID-19 resurgence and related restrictions.

Prague Classic 2020 was scheduled on November 5th – 8th as the only World Curling Tour Event held in the Czech Republic. However it was decided to cancel this edition.

David Šik, Chairman of the Board of Czech Curling Association said: We are very disappointed to cancel this tournament. We worked hard to organize great WCT event for the elite European curlers and unfortunatelly this effort is in vain. However based on the current situation in Czech Republic and in the whole world there is no other option than to cancel Prague Classic 2020. We cannot risk the health of players and other participants. I believe we will all meet in Prague next year.“

Number of new COVID-19 cases per day in the Czech Republic is currently one of the highest in Europe. All sport facilities are closed until the end of October. Besides Prague Classic 2020, at least three competition weekends are cancelled, including first round of Czech curling extraleague.
