The decision of the World Curling Federation (WCF) to place the Olympic Qualification Event for the 2018 Winter Olympics in curling to Pilsen is a great honor for the Czech curling.

From 5th to 10th December 2017, the four sheets of Košutka Arena in Pilsen will be showcasing the world’s best curling when 8 women’s and 8 men’s teams will fight for the last two qualifying positions at the Winter Olympic Games in each category. And the teams of the Czech Republic will be there! The women’s teams from China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Latvia and Norway will fight to fulfill their Olympic dream. The teams in the men’s category are from China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Russia. First the teams will compete in a round-robin format tournament and the top three teams will advance to the final battles. In the finals, the first team after round-robin will face the second team and the winner of this game will take the first qualifying spot for the Olympic Games, and subsequently the losingteam will face the third team after round-robin and the winner then takes the last qualifying spot for the Olympics. Teams that succeed in the Olympic Qualification Event 2017 will then join the already qualified teams and will play at the Olympic tournament in Pyeongchang, Korea in February 2018. Canada, Russia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States, Sweden, Korea and Japan will play in the women’s tournament and Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Korea, Norway, United States and Japan will play in the men‘s tournament.
